Back in January, LuLaRoe announced a new style. Ok, that’s a lie. They released about 3 styles, but I’m just focusing on one. The LuLaRoe Amy was first launched with the Valentine’s Day capsule. I’ve finally gotten around to wearing mine, so I thought this would be the perfect time to give you my honest review on the Amy.
First Impressions
The LuLaRoe Amy was a shirt that had previously been sold to consultants through the LuLaRoe Supply shop. I remember seeing them at our convention, called Vision, last year. I’m not going to lie. This shirt looked boxy as hell. As a curvy girl, I thought this thing would look like a sack on me, so I passed. I’ve got enough shit hanging in my closet that I don’t wear. I thought I didn’t need to add anymore items I won’t wear.
Fast forward to January. The Valentine’s capsule was released and SURPRISE! There was a new shirt included! It’s that damn boxy Amy. I thought the Maria dress previously looked like sad sack based on the styling photos, but damn, was I wrong! They styling photos for the Amy were along the same lines. Maybe these styling photos are fashion forward, but this humble Midwestern girl didn’t see it. But, I learned my lesson with the Maria. Don’t sign it off until you try it on. So, I ordered some. Let’s chat about what I thought of the LuLaRoe Amy.
Fit
Yup, she’s boxy alright! Now, I’ve got some curves. Some are good, some… not so good. Whatever. This is my body and I’ve learned to love it, faults and all. In learning to love my body, I’ve also learned what styles work and which ones I need to run way from. I have to do something with the Amy. I can’t just let her hang or the shirt wears me. So, I’m all about knotting it up. In the picture above, I threw it over a dress for a vintage vibe. Keep scrolling down and you’ll see how I wore it with jeans.
Fabric
Man, this fabric is insane. It’s a blend that makes it feel like suede. And based on the reviews of fabrics similar to this, I think it’s going to breathe and wick moisture away wonderfully. How perfect is that for friends that live in warmer environments?!
Overall Thoughts
Like the Maria, I was wrong about the Amy. I thought that it would look terrible on me based on the styling pictures. It’s a lot more flattering than I thought it would be. Is it something I’m going to wear every day? Probably not. Will the Amy be making appearances as a layering piece in my wardrobe? You betcha!
