I FINALLY got my hands on a LuLaRoe Maurine. Yeah, I missed out on getting to order this dress from the initial launch. Womp, womp. Well, I was able to snag one from another consultant. And yes, I paid retail for it.
Fabric
The Maurine has been released in multiple fabrics this first round. Some of these include a polyester blend (it as a t-shirt feel, velvet, and lace. While I haven’t had the pleasure of trying on a velvet one, the polyester blend that I have has a good amount of 2-way stretch. What does that mean? The fabric has stretch from side to side, but not up and down. So, this has more stretch than no stretch, but not as much stretch as some fabrics with 4-way stretch.
Fit
This has been one of the biggest questions I’ve heard so far. The Maurine is based off of the Carly. Most people wear a range of sizes in the Carly, so they assume they can do the same in the Maurine. Well, I would recommend staying to the larger end of your Carly sizing. I’m a size 12 and felt the most comfortable in a small. I carry my weight in my hips and stomach, so I didn’t have to worry about a small being tight in the chest. I would not recommend sizing all of the way down like you would with a Carly. Yes, sizing down is fun and makes us all feel fantastic, but it’s just a size on the tag. That size does not label you. I promise.
Overall Opinion
Even at $74, I feel that the Maurine is worth every penny. Is this a dress that I’m going to need 12 of them? Nope. But 2-3 in some solids or gorgeous prints? Heck yes I will be doing that! There are times when I feel that the Carly is a bit too casual, so the Maurine is the perfect piece to step up your wardrobe.
