I’ve spent a lot of time analyzing pictures from fashion week to look at what is coming for spring shoe trends of 2018. Well, it’s safe to say that anything goes in 2018. There were cowboy boots to futuristic sneakers that look like you could wear them on the moon to spiky stilettos and chunky heels. If you want to wear it, you can rock it in 2018. But, let’s cover some of my favorite shoes that you’ll find!
Skinny Stilettos
Have you heard that what goes around in the style world comes back around? If you buy something, hang on to it for a few years and it will be fashionable again! Well, shoes that could double as a toothpick are back in trend. Oh, I mean stilettos. Yes, these shoes are hella sexy and make your calves look amazing, but I feel like you need to take lessons in walking in them before wearing them in public. Lesson #1: Avoid sewer grates. Christian Louboutin and his signature red soles have never truly gone out of trend, but watch for women wearing shoes tall enough that you might need an extra oxygen supply really are coming back around. And keep your eyes open for a pop of unexpected color. Black will always be a staple, but shades of pastels of making the rounds. Wait, pastels in spring? How revolutionary?! Do you really want to challenge the trends? Wear something bright. Bold colors are having a moment.
Chunky (and Curvy) Heels
Are you worried that you’ll bust your shit and break that toothpick called a stiletto the minute you leave your house? Don’t worry! Big, fat, chunky heels that give you more contact with the ground are also being worn on the runway. Salvatore Ferragamo is featuring chunky heels where the actual heel is round. Why should the front, or toe, of the shoe get all of the focus? There is an emphasis on the heel having some fun, as well! Companies like Celine and Miu Miu are giving unexpected heel shapes, like curves, their moment.

Embellished Everything
The spring shoe trends of 2018 are showing embellishments EVERYWHERE! We’re talking sneakers with lips, heels with crystals, and feathers on everything. Basically, let your child at your shoes with some glue and a bedazzler, and you’ll be rocking the spring shoe trends this year! The pair below is fun because of the unexpected pop of color in the pom pom’s!
Space Age Sneakers
Now, this might be my bias showing here, but the thicker the platform, the more trendy a sneaker or jogger is. Granted, you’re probably not going to be running anywhere in these platforms, except if you hear that Nordstrom’s is having a sample sale. While these shoes are on trend right now, I’m not a huge fan of wearing moon boots. The extra weight I carry is enough to help gravity keep me on planet Earth. However, I’m not going to lie. These Marc Jacobs space sneakers are something I would wear. Why? They’re in my FAVE color, cranberry!
Socks AND Shoes
Nope. I’m not talking about those mid-calf white socks and slip on sandals that your dad wears to head out to check on the grill. These socks tend to be made of a thinner material, like fishnet. When I first saw this trend, it was not one that I was willing to jump on the bus for right away. I’m a product of the 1980’s, so shoes and visible socks (besides running shoes) make me twitch. However, this trend can be cute if done in a high-fashion aspect. I’m not recommending wearing these with the space shoes from above, but pair them with sky-high stilettos? Yeah, you can have a moment with that. Below are some fishnet socks that have a variety of weaves to them.
Clear Shoes
The first thought that comes to mind when I think of clear shoes are strippers. Sorry friends, I can’t help myself. But, I was proven wrong. There are some cute shoes coming out that are clear but not begging to be wrapped around a pole! However, make sure you’ve got things taken care of in the foot department before you start wearing clear shoes. No one wants to see your cracked heels and foot fungus, so make sure that your shit is in check. The pair below, from Steve Madden, also checks in with a funky heel shape. With the right outfit, these definitely could be rocked outside of the strip club!
