It’s summer. If you are actively working a direct sales business, chances are you’re heading to your company’s convention. Why? HERE is a blog post with the 4 reasons you need to head to your convention. Well, now that you’ve made your mind up that you’re going to your convention, you’ve got all kinds of questions. What should you expect? How long is this event? What’s the best airport to fly into? Most of these questions can be answered by other leaders within your company or on your company back office. However, I can help you with figuring out what to pack for your direct sales convention!
Clothes
These conventions always end up being a little fashion show, right? At least all of the ones I’ve been to have been. You want to look good, but you also need to be comfortable and not sweat to death. Now I may be biased, but I’m partial to options like LuLaRoe. Why? They pack well, they are incredibly comfortable, and if you need to wash them in a sink, they dry pretty quickly as well.
Your shoes should fit the same criteria. You might have to stand for long periods, it’s probably going to be hot (hello summer!), and no one likes blisters. HERE is a blog post about some shoes that I love right now.
Electronics
You’re going to be seeing all of your besties, taking pictures of the slides, and updating your Facebook community on everything that’s going on, right? Well, you’re going to want an extra BATTERY PACK. This will hep ensure that your phone stays charged for the entire time you need it.
Tip: Download the app for your airline, hotel, UberEats and favorite transportation method before you leave. This will help you check in faster and deal with any issues that may arise.
Food
Food can be hella expensive at these events. Yes, that is a technical term (if you want to read about going to convention on a budget, HERE is a blog post for you!). You can use something like Uber Eats or a grocery store delivery service to deliver food wherever you will be staying. I always pack a granola bar and a piece of fruit before I head into any meetings in case you get hangry.
Pen and Paper
Ok, this title is misleading. You just need to pack something to take notes, whether it’s an old fashioned note pad and some pens or your iPad and Bluetooth keyboard. Regardless of what you use, you’re going to have fantastic ideas flying through your head during your convention. Make sure you have some way of recording them. I’d also recommend bringing a planner or paper calendar so you can map out a timeline of your ideas.
Medicine
No one wants to get sick on a trip, but it happens. I always have some sort of pain reliever, anti-diarrheal, antacid, cold medicine, and tampons with me. I swear my period waits for me to travel before showing up. I’d rather have everything I could possibly need just in case the worst case scenario happens.
Bags
I leave extra room in my suitcase. I always end up with swag or going shopping, so I want to make sure I have enough room in my bag. I always throw one of THESE in my bag because it’s generally cheaper to check a second bag than to pay for an overweight bag. These are perfect because of the zipper. In fact, I leave one in my car because you never know when it’s going to come in handy, like yesterday, when my grocery bag tore.
Alright friends! I hope this helps you figure out some of the items that you should pack when you’re heading to convention. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message HERE!
