Alright friends, the LuLaRoe Nicki has shown up in my boutique. Since this is a new style to me, it only makes sense to write a review, right? I try to be transparent with you all on the fit, my thoughts, and try to give you an honest, unbiased opinion. So, let’s get down to it. It’s time for my honest LuLaRoe Nicki review!
What is the LuLaRoe Nicki?
The Nicki is a sleeveless version of the Nicole. If you’d like to read my post announcing this style with all of the details, click HERE.
LuLaRoe Nicki Review
Alright friends, let’s cover the details. I’m going to discuss fit, fabric, and sum it up with my overall thoughts at the end.
Fabric
As of the first release of this style, the Nicki came in 2 fabrics, a cottony feel, and ITY, or the same fabric as the slinky maxi skirts. In my opinion, the cottony fabric fits true to size. With the ITY, you can size down once depending on where you carry your weight. The ITY fabric is thinner, so it breathes. It also smooths over any lumps and bumps versus settling into the nooks and cranies you don’t want highlighted.
Fit
Now, I’m going to be very transparent with you. Hi, my name is Devin, and I’m a size 12/14, am a 34D, and have a hourglass/pear body shape. I carry my weight south of my waist. Well, I also have some bat-wings. Why am I getting all personal with you on my details? Knowing my body shape and size will hopefully help you decide what size and fabric will work best for your body.
Small
Hahahhahahahhahaha! With my stats, why did I think I would fit into a small? Color me SHOCKED because the ITY small fit. My boobs disagreed with the cotton, but I could fit into the ITY. The armpits didn’t also creep up too far. Will I make this my preferred size? Probably not. It gets shorter in the back than I’d like. However, if it was a killer print, I would make this work.
Medium
Cotton
I’m a big fan of anything plaid, so I had to try this one on. I was surprised that I got it on without much fuss. This is the smallest size I would do in the cotton. I could see this showing some tummy rolls if I sat down, but I didn’t play that game today.
ITY-
HELLO GORGEOUS! This dress fit exactly how I wanted it to. It clung to my bust, but draped away from my spare tired. The armpits sat where I wanted them to be. This will be my preferred ITY size. And let’s be honest, slipping into a medium is going to give my 12/14 sized butt all the confidence boosts. All of them!
Large
Cotton
This will be my cotton go-to sizing. It gives me the figure I want without showing the lumps and bumps that look a lot of tacos and neglect to cultivate. I tried bending over, and the neckline stays put, so no one will be looking down my dress.
ITY
The large ITY fits, but it’s starting to gape at my midsection. This would not be bad at all on my bloated days, but it makes me feel larger than I’d like.
Extra-Large
Cotton
Like the ITY in a large, I’m noticing the gaping in the midsection in the XL cotton.
ITY
And we’re getting into tenty territory. The bodice does not hold to me, and the armpits are getting quite droopy. I feel like if I went any larger, you would know exactly what my bra looked like.
2XL
As of right now, my 2XL’s have been delayed by a freak snowstorm in late April in Wisconsin. I did see a styling hack, so once they get here, I will attempt to recreate it. However, I will not be wearing a 2X without some modifications because it will be too large.
Overall Thoughts: My LuLaRoe Nicki Review Summation
I was really excited when this dress was launched. I love the Nicole, but sometimes I would have to size up solely because of my arms. Since the sleeves have been removed, this problem fixed itself. I’m also a big fan of the added pockets. I love dressing up and carrying cute purses-sometimes. Other days, I wear a dress because I’m too lazy to put on a shirt AND pants. On those days, I just want to be low-maintenance. Lugging a big purse around doesn’t help my low-key cause. These pockets give me room for my keys, some cash, some chapstick, and my phone. All the essentials, right? I do wish that the sizing was a little more consistent with the fabrics, but I understand that is the nature of the beast. I hope you were able to find this review helpful!
Breast-feeding Mama’s: The ITY fabric was so stretchy that I feel it would be very easy to pull it down and feed. This dress will be your new best friend!
