It’s about damn time. LuLaRoe heard us that we all love being dressed up, but sometimes we just want to be comfy. What’s more comfy than a hoodie? How about a LuLaRoe hoodie?! Our wish was granted with the All-American Summer launch in May of 2019. (Click HERE to read about this capsule and HERE to read about the launch of the Amber, complete with details.) I finally have my first batch in my hands, so it looks like it’s time for my LuLaRoe Amber review.
LuLaRoe Amber Review: Fit
Here it comes. I’m about to be very transparent with you about my body shape and sizes so you can picture me when I’m giving you all the juicy details about this hoodie. Hi, my name is Devin. I’m 5’4″, a size 12/14, have an hourglass/borderline pear shape (I carry my weight in my hips, butt, thighs, and that little taco baby that has taken lots of neglect to grow.), and I love my body. It keeps me moving every day. Love yourself at every stage of life. …And now I’ll step down off of my soap box.
Small
I had heard the fabric on the Amber was super stretchy, so I prayed and struggled, but I shoved my body in the small. Was it my favorite? Nope. It squeezed a little too tightly on these bat wings/arms. I also felt like the collar would annoy me. However, this print is killer!
Medium
The medium was more forgiving on my body than the small. Since the Classic Tee is slightly flowy on the bottom, I can rock a medium in the Classic. Randy? Hell no. Could I do it in a Amber? Yes, but I’d feel more confident in a print. I feel like the solids draw your attention to the 3 tacos I ate for lunch. Judge away. I feel no shame.
Large
This is my larger size of Classic, and my Randy and Lynnae size. This one felt comfortable. I would totally rock this one with some jeans, shorts, or even a cute Cassie and Chucks. This will definitely be one of my preferred sizes.
Extra-Large
Remember how I started this LuLaRoe Amber review by stating that I wanted big and baggy? I take my words back. This is baggy, comfy, and still stylish. This is going to be my other preferred size because it’s comfy, loose, but not sloppy. I’m not a college kid anymore and don’t need to dress like one, either.
2XL
This fit is still comfy and fun, but we’re getting a little baggy. The sleeves are also getting long, but I can see myself making this work if the print is too good to pass up.
3XL
It’s too big, but I committed to trying on each size for this LuLaRoe Amber review.
Overall, I was a little scared of the Amber. Why? It was billed as fitting like the Randy, which doesn’t do any favors for my taco baby/spare tire. When I reach for a hoodie, I want something big and comfy that may also make me look like I’m wearing my husband’s clothes. Well, I might have graduated to a more fitted look. I’m loving these! If you are like me and carry your weight around my midsection, go for your RANDY size. If you are more evenly proportioned, I feel confident you could do your Classic size. And don’t forget that you can size up. These look cute oversized!
LuLaRoe Amber Review: Fabric
I’m beyond excited that LuLaRoe has finally realized that not the whole country has beautiful, warm, sunny days like Southern California. I live in Wisconsin, where we can experience all four seasons in one day. Don’t even get me started on winters. Snot freezes in your nose up here! The fabric on these is like your favorite t-shirt, but with a ton of stretch. I love it, but it will not stand up to Wisconsin winters without some serious layers.
Overall Thoughts
I’m not going to lie. I was super pumped when I saw the preview of this hoodie, especially with the prints that were being featured. When I finally got to try one on, they didn’t disappoint. I love the cross-over collar, the fabric, and I might even have changed my mind about those oversized hoodies. So, is this hoodie going to be enough to keep me warm during Wisconsin’s winters? No, but HERE is a blog post with all of my favorite tips on how to layer and not look like a potato. Trust me, I’m a potato expert. My husband grows about 30 million pounds of them annually. However, this will be my go-to for cool summer mornings or nights around a bonfire.
