I live up in the boonies of Wisconsin. News flash: It’s beyond cold here during winter. It’s cold enough that bubbles freeze. Yes, that is a real thing. LuLaRoe has listened to retailers and customers alike that live in these colder environments. We asked for a less flowy cardigan that would be warm enough to handle legit cold temperatures. Ask and ye shall receive. It took a minute, but the designers created a sweater for us! The Lucille has shown up in my boutique, so let’s get down to it! Here’s my LuLaRoe Lucille honest review!
What is the LuLaRoe Lucille?
The Lucille is a button up cardigan. Many people are referring to the Lucille as a grandpa or boyfriend cardigan because it’s meant to be worn oversized. HERE is a blog post that I wrote when the Lucille was launched.
LuLaRoe Lucille Review: Fabric
The Lucille is made from a soft knit. It does feature a looser weave pattern, so don’t worry about it being too hot if you don’t live in a place that doesn’t get as cold as Wisconsin. I believe this looser weave will allow you to cool off if you need, but help keep you warm if that’s your goal, too.
Since I am a product of a sweater-loving family, I do feel the need to issue a warning. The care tag on the Lucille says to hang dry. I urge you not to. Put a towel down on a table, lay the Lucille on top of it, and shape the sweater. After a few hours, flip the sweater. Hanging the sweater to dry, or even in your closet, will cause the sweater to stretch out, lose it’s shape, and then you’ll have shoulder dimples.
LuLaRoe Lucille Review: Fit
The Lucille is only coming in 3 sizes at this time, so sizing is easy! But don’t worry, I put on each size to give you my input. So, here are my details so this review has a little more validity. I’m Devin, I’m 5’4″, a size 12/14, a 34D, have an hourglass/borderline pear shape, and carry the majority of my weight in my hips, belly, and thighs. Knowing this info about me will make finding your ideal size a little easier.
According to the sizing chart, I fall squarely into the Mediums. But when have I EVER followed the rules? Let’s try on all sizes!
Small
This is smaller than what I should be wearing according to the size chart. Eh, I don’t like to follow rules. The small was a good fit for a more true to size cardigan. I’m not sure I could button it, but let’s be honest, who buttons a cardigan?
Medium
This is the size I’m supposed to wear according to the size chart. My arms aren’t very long, so I had to cuff or push up the sleeves. I have no issue with either option. It gives the Lucille the slouchy look it’s supposed to have.
Large
I had to cuff the sleeves 2 or 3 times in the large. It was quite large on me, but I honestly would love it with a more fitted style to play with proportions. This was getting longer on me, but I don’t mind this.
LuLaRoe Lucille Review: Overall Thoughts
I personally think the Lucille will be a sweater that I reach for quite frequently. I feel like this is like the Lindsay, a cover-up that has been retired. With the Lindsay, sizing was kind of made up. It had a strong boho vibe, so pull the print you love. The Lucille is just like this in my opinion. Larger ladies, do not be scared. This sweater has tons of room, so you’ll be more than fine!
