It’s about that time again, friends. What time is that? Time for my LuLaRoe Hudson review! Whenever a new style comes out, I try to put on each size so that you can make an informed decision on which size will work best for you. Well, a new unisex shirt has hit the market, so it’s that time. Let’s get down to my honest LuLaRoe Hudson review.
What is the Hudson?
The Hudson is the revamped Patrick. Click HERE to read the post where I announced that this style was being launched!
LuLaRoe Hudson Review: Fabric
The fabrics that are being used in the Hudson are amazing. Yeah, I might be a bit of a fabric snob, so trust me when I say that these fabrics will maintain their shape, hold their colors, and still stay soft like you want them to do!
LuLaRoe Hudson Review: Price
The Hudson got a price cut from when it was a Patrick. At $34, this shirt is definitely more affordable! Please watch out while I personally stock up on these!
LuLaRoe Hudson Review: Fit
One of the things that I try to do with each style review that I do is try on as many of the sizes that I can. I feel this helps you know what size you need.
My Stats:
Hi, my name is Devin. I’m 5’4″ (on a good day), a size 12/14, carry my weight in my stomach, hips, and thighs, am a hourglass/borderline pear shape, a 34D, and so thankful that this body is able to get me around each day (fun fact: I had to be taught to walk again at 18, so yeah, very thankful for a functioning body).
Small
I honestly expected the small to be too small. Color me surprised when it fit! I know it’s a unisex shirt, but uhhh, I haven’t lost any weight recently. I thought this would be way too small. Now, would I reach for a small every day? Probably not, and definitely not with leggings. However, if I seriously loved a print, I’d make a small work with some jeans.
Medium
This was what I thought my bottom-size would be. What do I mean by that? I thought the medium would be the smallest size that I would wear. It would be that size that I reached for only if it was the print I couldn’t live without. But, I was shocked when it was the size that worked best for me! Since this is a unisex shirt, I’m recommending that women size down once from their traditional shirt size. Since mine is a large, the medium fits best. This size will be my go-to with jeans.
Large
This is the other size I’m the most confident in. It’s not too long yet. I’m betting this size will be comfortable on the days that I feel a little bloated. Yeah, that happens. Basically, what I’m saying is that this is my looser go-to size. This will be what I wear with leggings.
Extra-Large
Extra-large is where I started to feel like the shirt wore me, not me wearing the shirt. It was starting to get too long on my 5’4″ frame. I tucked it under to make it work. Would I wear an XL? The answer is yes, for the right print, but it wouldn’t be my usual size.
2XL
This was getting sloppy on me. I would need to roll the sleeves, tuck it in, or knot it up to make it fit without looking like I stole my husband’s shirt.
3XL
In this picture, the shirt is tucked up and into my jeans. You can’t see my elbows. I’m drowning in it, but I was committed to trying on all the sizes. This size would not be a size that I pick for my frame, but it would probably be really comfortable to sleep in.
Introducing my friend, Nicole Saunders
The ever-adorable Nicole did me a solid and wrote a review of her wearing the Hudson. The Patrick was her go-to, so she had to snag a Hudson or two when they released.
“I’m 5’6″ and wear a size 14/16 in pants. I would prefer an XL, but this print was too good! I made it work. My normal shirt size is an XL. I decided to throw on a Shirley to complete my look. For reference, this Shirley is a large.”
Thanks Nicole for helping out! You’re too cute!
LuLaRoe Hudson Review: Overall Thoughts
When this shirt was known as the Patrick, it wasn’t a favorite of mine. The butt-flap was too long for a unisex shirt. It was also very boxy, even on men. After the revamp, I’m thrilled to say that this will be a shirt that I reach into my closet for. I even got one for my husband and he’s thrilled with it. Once we’re out of harvest season at our farm, I will get pictures of him.
