If you were to ask a LuLaRoe retailer who has been in the business for more than 2 years what their favorite layering piece is, chances are at least a few would say the Mimi. Wait, what is the Mimi? Don’t worry friend! I’ll get there! So, let’s dive into my honest LuLaRoe Mimi review.
LuLaRoe Mimi Review: What is the Mimi?
Oh man. The Mimi is my jam! This sweater is the perfect layering piece for Wisconsin’s temperamental weather. Layering is my jam (click HERE to read some of my favorite tips for layering without looking like a potato). So, the Mimi is a versatile poncho. It features buttons on the front, or side depending on the style, so that you can wear it open or closed.
LuLaRoe Mimi Review: Fit
Since this is a poncho and one size fits all, I feel like calling this category fit can be a little misleading. However, let’s talk about the 2 areas that I feel make a difference.
Neckline
I HATE anything that’s super confining in the neck. Turtlenecks? NOT A FAN! I feel like I’m wearing a neck coffin. Does the Mimi remind me of a boa constrictor? Not usually. Sometimes if I’m antsy and moving around while sitting, the front will creep up. It’s an easy fix to shift so you’re not sitting on the back. Additionally, you could always unbutton the top button to give yourself more room.
Length
Even when the Mimi is worn open or not buttoned, this sweater is not overly long. I’m only 5’4″ (on a good day), and it hits me about the knee when unbuttoned. When it’s buttoned and work as a poncho, it hits me about mid-thigh. I feel this is a great length because my booty is covered.
LuLaRoe Mimi Review: Price
When the Mimi first launched, it was $75. I didn’t think it was a terrible price, but at $75, I didn’t need all of the Mimi’s. Now, the Mimi will be retailing for $60, which I feel is an even better price. I will stock up now!
LuLaRoe Mimi Review: Styling Tips
The Mimi is a very versatile piece. You can wear this as a wrap, as a poncho, as a sweater, or a scarf. How you wear this sweater can give off very different vibes, whether you’re going for a boho look or just trying to stay warm. Look to the pictures in this post for a few of my favorite ways to style this amazing sweater.
When I’m flying, this sweater is the perfect layering essential to stay warm for all the temperature fluctuations that happen. Since there are multiple different weave patterns, some of my Mimi’s are warmer than others, which is great since Wisconsin can have 140 degree temperature swings in just 6 months.
LuLaRoe Mimi Review: Overall Thoughts
Since the Mimi got a price cut to $60 from when it originally launched in 2017, I feel that this sweater is well worth it’s cost. The fabric is very soft, which I love for when I’m looking for a cozy look. Will I rock this sweater? That’s a resounding YES from me!
