Alright friends, it’s that time again. A new dress has launched, and I got my hands on multiple sizes. So, it’s only fair that I play dress-up and put on multiple sizes. So, let’s get to my honest LuLuRoe Ellie review.
What is the LuLaRoe Ellie?
The Ellie is the newest dress in LuLaRoe’s lineup. Click HERE to read my announcement post, including a sizing chart and pricing info.
LuLaRoe Ellie Review: Fabric
This dress was made in DTY (the slinky fabric of maxi skirts) and MVS, our favorite soft cottony blend. Both of these fabrics will be great because they wear well and pack well for anyone that needs to travel. These don’t wrinkle! I’m all about low-maintenance fabrics.
LuLaRoe Ellie Review: Fit
Now, I’m going to be very transparent about my body shape and size. Why? Hopefully knowing more about my body will help you make a decision on what sizes you need. I’m 5’4″, a size 12/14, have an hourglass/borderline pear shape since I carry my weight in my stomach, hips, butt, and thighs, and I am a 34D.
Small
Oh man. I tried, friends, but it was not good. The sleeves were tight and someone was about to lose an eye from a button popping off if I moved wrong. Therefore, there are no pictures.
Medium
Ok, am I crazy comfortable in the medium? Eh, it’s ok. I feel like it clings a little bit to my taco belly. Was it unwearable? No. The sleeves weren’t too tight, either. This will be the size I grab if I want to wear the Ellie unbuttoned over a pair of jeans and a tank to look like a duster vest.
Large
The large is my traditional size. And this is probably the size that I will reach for the most. The sleeves have room, but aren’t too long. The cuffs aren’t too loose. This doesn’t cling to my stomach. I felt comfortable. I would be able to sit down and not worry about it showing off my stomach. And the chest? I don’t have to even think about gaping. It’s crazy what LuLaRoe has done with both the Ellie and Valentina in regards to boob-gaping. I’m in love!
Extra-Large
Ok, I had to try to force some chest gaping with this picture. As you can see, it didn’t happen. No one will know what color bra I’m wearing. Now, to the rest of the dress: The cuffs were big and the sleeves long. I felt like a little kid playing in someone’s closet because I would lose my hands to the dress. Now, will I not wear this size? Nope. Because of the loops on the sleeves, I was able to roll the sleeves. If I decided to rock an XL, I will definitely keep the sleeves rolled. The dress was a little bat-wingy in the armpits, but not to a level when I wouldn’t wear it. I definitely need to utilize the belt to maintain a figure.
2XL
While I would have loved to try on a 2X and 3X, I wasn’t able to snag those sizes when I placed my order. If I am able to get them in the future, I will come back and edit this.
LuLaRoe Ellie Review: Overall Thoughts
I love the slightly high-low look (the back is about an inch or 2 longer than the front). I’m also an big fan of using the belt to create an hourglass shape, whether you have one or not. Add in pockets and a fabric blend that doesn’t wrinkle and you have a dress that can be a staple in any closet!
