Spring is right around the corner here in Wisconsin, so it feels like everyone is reaching for dresses. After bundling up all winter, a fun and flirty dress just feels right. So, LuLaRoe decided to release a new dress. How timely, right? Well, I was able to get my hands on a few of the new dress, called the Riley. Since they’re here, it’s only appropriate to write my honest LuLaRoe Riley review. Let’s get to it!
What is the LuLaRoe Riley?
The Riley is a midi length dress. Want to read all of the info about this style? Click HERE to read the announcement.
LuLaRoe Riley Review: Price
I’m not going to lie. I was shocked when I saw that the Riley would be only $44. When the Ana was available (a slightly similar style, but it was full length), it retailed for $60. So, $44 just tickles me pink!
LuLaRoe Riley Review: Fabric
The first round of Riley’s are available in just 2 fabrics.
MVS:
This is the super soft, cottony fabric that we see used in a lot of LuLaRoe styles. It has some stretch, but not as much as the DTY
DTY:
This one of the fabrics that is known as a “slinky” fabric. This fabric has a ton of bounce and stretch. It also does not wrinkle and breathes well.
LuLaRoe Riley Review: Fit
My Stats
Ok, so why am I telling you my stats? Knowing this info will help you decide what size and fabrics will work best for you.
I’m 5’4″, a size 12 or 14 depending on the day, I’m an hourglass/borderline pear shape, which means I carry my weight in my stomach, hips, and thighs. I like a large Michelle, Nicki, and Christy, and a small or medium Carly and Jessie.
Small
Oof. I didn’t think a small would fit. And guess what? It didn’t really! Yes, it’s on my body, but I feel like one wrong move and I’d blow the seams out of this baby. The fabric was also stretched tight across the boobs, so my bra would show through if I wasn’t wearing a nude one. This is DTY fabric, so it has a lot of give to it, but I would hard pass on wearing a small at my size. 10/10 do not recommend becoming an exploded sausage. I almost had to ask for help getting out of this dress. The only person in the house was my husband’s uncle. Talk about awkward…
Medium
This mustard beauty is in the MVS or cottony fabric. While it’s more comfortable than the small, this still is tight. It feels the tightest in my arms. I’m not a fan of feeling confined, so this will also not be my go-to size for this fabric. However, if this would have been made in the DTY or slinky fabric, I probably would be more comfortable.
Large
This is my true size. And in the MVS fabric, this will be my go-to size. The empire waist hits where I want it to, the sleeves are fitted but not too tight, and the dress hits mid-shin. I don’t feel like 10 pounds of sausage in a 5 pound sack. I felt comfortable, flattered, and contained. Yes, contained. We will get to that in a minute. I could also do this size in the DTY fabric.
Extra-Large
This dress fits-ish. What do I mean by “ish”? It doesn’t hold to my curves. I feel like it has extra room in the waist, which could make me look larger. It’s also getting longer, but still hitting above my ankles. For the right print, I will make this work in the MVS fabric. The DTY will stretch too much and get long on me.
2XL
It doesn’t look like it in this photo, but the dress is sloppy big. All I have to do is bend over and you can see EVERYTHING down my dress. It feels sloppy, I don’t feel contained, and I’d be uncomfortable in it.
What body shapes will the Riley work best for?
Because the Riley has an empire waist, I truly feel that this dress will work well for all shapes! Not sure what shape you are? Don’t worry! I break them all down HERE.
LuLaRoe Riley Review: Overall Thoughts
I’m in love with this dress! It will be perfect for any spring or summer party or wedding that I need to head to! I can see this dress with flats, a boho wide brimmed hat, or combat boots for some 90’s grunge vibes. This dress will be very flattering because of the empire waist, and incredibly versatile! Watch out world, I will rock this dress until the snow flies!

Thank you! I wear the same size as you. I know you said I’m the cottony material, the large is your go to size. What is your go to size in the slinky material??
When it comes to the slinky, I can do a medium or large.
